Dawnspire Session 4 Recap

Twelve adventurers. Three paths. One fragile balance between hope and ruin.

In the aftermath of the joint naval and land victory over Thornhaven, Dawnspire held three prisoners:

  • Elias Thornmere, a merchant and covert Thornhaven agent

  • Azhar the Inkwoven, a formidable mage

  • Captain Elreld Thornwarden, commander of the captured ship

On the morning of Session 4, it was discovered that Captain Thornwarden had hung himself in his cell.

With tensions rising, the adventurers embarked on three separate but interconnected quests.

🛤️ Group One: The Marshlands and the Mound

Tasked by the enigmatic Thessa Vale, the group ventured west into the fetid marshlands in search of the missing druid Havras Bogglesworth. Their path led to an ancient burial mound, where they faced fiendish horrors in a brutal and chaotic battle.

Before the clash, they found Havras—moments before he sacrificed himself, transforming into a gelatinous cube to appease the ancient evil related to the Cult of Juiblex. His druidic companions were not so fortunate.

Though several party members were incapacitated at various points, they fought with grit and unity—emerging victorious with no fatalities.

💎 Group Two: The Relic and the Betrayal

Group Two, recovered a powerful relic. Following a lead, the party set out to rescue three young adventurers who vanished near ancient ruins. Along the way, they encountered a mysterious ferryman before arriving at a cursed temple marked by dark murals and deadly traps.

Inside, they faced magical challenges and a chamber guarded by stone golems. As they approached the powerful Enfracture Prism, a party member betrayed the group and tried to seize it for the Cult of Juiblex. In a tense final confrontation, the party stopped him and secured the relic, narrowly averting its theft. The relic is now in their possession—dangerous, powerful, and central to a much larger threat.

🌱 Group Three: The Circle and the Corruption

Group Three, after interrogating Thornhaven agents, the party spoke with Thessa Vale about disturbances at the Circle of Accord and began investigating the leylines.

Following the eastern leyline, the party encountered signs of corruption—slime, strange reflections, and a black pudding. They discovered markings tied to a group called the Green Haven Trust, including ritual sites and a strange tree-root sigil.

Back in town, Thessa had vanished along with other Green Haven Trust members. A former follower, Brin Mosswood, revealed the group had gone into hiding to complete a plan called the Recursion. During interrogation, she became possessed and warned:

“The Circle is the keystone, the adventurers, parties out on the two other quests, are bait, and the ritual has begun.”
